what is tsunster...

Tsunster is a directX development company focused on building 3D media and web applications for education and entertainment. We have been building a library of tools for creating consumer level 3D applications that use this technology in ways outside the world of gaming. Tsunster.com is a reference portal to areas of the web devoted to directX development and real-time rendering.

3D engine / editor

Programming on the tsunster real-time editor/engine began in 1999. Twenty interactive applications have been developed and distributed to over 500,000 users. It is DirectX 9c compatible and robust. The engine is written in c++ and incorporates a resident 3D interactive editor. The editor demonstrates that 3D content can be edited in real-time. This greatly enhances the content creation process. Content developed in the editor/engine is exported to an engine shell for application polishing and final enhancement. Any code developed within the editor/engine fits directly into the engine shell since the shell is a stubbed copy. With all the exciting advances in directX in recent years this project has proven a strong foundation for the creation of new applications using the MS directX SDK and API.

Our most recent program, TypeBlaster, was released on June 15, 2005. TypeBlaster is an example of the educational and fun applications we are working on. Please visit our download page and check it out on your windows machine. We are directly marketing this program to schools and individuals.

Real-time rendering Real-time rendering is concerned with making images rapidly on the computer. It is the most highly interactive area of computer graphics. An image appears on the screen, the viewer acts or reacts, and this feedback affects what is generated next. This cycle of reaction and rendering happens at a rapid enough rate that the viewer does not see individual images, but rather becomes immersed in a dynamic process.

DirectXMicrosoft DirectX is an advanced suite of multimedia application programming interfaces (APIs) built into Microsoft Windows; operating systems. DirectX provides a standard development platform for Windows-based PCs by enabling software developers to access specialized hardware features without having to write hardware-specific code. This technology was first introduced in 1995 and is a recognized standard for multimedia application development on the Windows platform.

3D Studio Max3D Studio Max is a 3-dimensional vector graphics and animation program, written by Kinetix (a division of Autodesk). It was developed as a successor to 3D Studio for DOS, but for the Win32 platform. Kinetix was later merged with Autodesk's latest acquisition, Discreet Logic. The current version of 3DS Max as of November 2004 is 7.

Instant Effects Instant Effects develops software that enables mainstream computer users to easily create interactive rich media from within popular productivity applications or through access to common data sources. The company’s mission is to simplify high-quality rich media creation and broaden its applicability and use. Founded by a team of executives with long experience in advanced computer graphics, Instant Effects is the first company to bring the power of rich media and advanced 3D graphics to the world’s most widely used presentation software – Microsoft PowerPoint.

PhotoshopPhotoshop is the most popular digital imaging software program. It allows for the color correction, tonal adjustment, sizing, and cropping of digital images. It is also enables retouching, image manipulation, compositing, and special effects. It is one of the essential tools used to create realistic textures on 3d models and environments. FLV VideoFLV Video offers technological and creative benefits that allow designers to create immersive, rich experiences that fuse video together with data, graphics, sound, and dynamic interactive control. Macromedia Flash Player has become the most widely installed Internet video client, running on over 94% of all Internet-connected personal computers.
